Gender Gap Cabin $170,000

This cabin is on 5 acres on Hunter’s Ridge Road, a road that ends just up the hill so there is little traffic. When you sit on the deck, you may not see a car for days, just pileated woodpeckers and deer passing by.

The cabin has two-bedrooms, a bath, fully-equipped kitchen with dining table, and a small sitting area with a wood-burning stove. There is also a deck for entertaining and grilling. In summer months, the screened porch is where you will want to be, looking out on a peaceful forest and natural ferns which fill most of the open space.

A cathedral ceiling inside the cabin makes it seem larger than 560 sq. ft. A ceiling fan keeps the kitchen cool. While AC is rarely needed in these mountains at night, there is a built-in air conditioner for a warm August evening. Electric baseboard heat and a Jotul wood stove make the cabin cozy in cold weather. The stove is very efficient and holds a fire all night.

The kitchen is small but gets good light from double windows. If the space seems too small for future needs, covenants permit expansion or construction of a second structure.

The master bedroom supports a queen-size bed; the second bedroom will hold a double bed or can be used as an office/den.

  1. These are beautiful photos, Margo. It looks like your town has so many photo opportunities that you'd never tire of making photographs and/or painting these gorgeous landscapes. What a wonderful place to live.
